Create your own beaded Crystal Curtain for any interior doorway using crystal beads. Crystal beads create a shimmering effect in doorways to lighten dark areas and to add movement to the space. Crystal beads are available in bulk from online bead suppliers; the size of the doorway opening and the size of the beads dictate the number of beads you’ll need to make the curtain. Hang a top drilled crystal bead or crystal prism at the end of each strand to give the crystal curtain a professional appearance. 1 Measure the width and length of the area you want to cover with your crystal curtain and purchase a tension curtain rod. 2 Measure the width and length of your chosen crystals and other design elements. Decide if you want the crystals close together on each string or if you want to separate them with colorful ribbons, other Crystal Glass Bead, bamboo or straws. Calculate the number of elements you will need to achieve the effect you want. 3 Purchase enough crystal, thread, string or ribbon for the crystal strings to cover the length and width of the space you will be filling with the crystal curtain. 4 Mark dots with a felt-tip pen in a straight line on the curtain rod, spaced 1/4 to 1/2- inch wider than the width of the crystals. Using an ice pick and hammer, punch holes in the curtain rod slightly smaller than the screw-end of the eye hook. 5 Screw the eye hooks into the curtain-rod holes. They will eventually hold the strings of crystals you will create. The eye hooks should be separated so the crystal strings won’t hit each other after hanging. Another option is to use attractive shower-curtain holders on the curtain rod for quick attachment of the finished crystal strings. 6 Cut the number of strings, thread or ribbon lengths you will need for your crystal curtain. Add ten inches to each curtain length for finishing and knotting. 7 Tie a knot at the bottom of a curtain string. Thread on your crystals and optional design elements, separating each one with a knot to hold it in place. Dab glue on the knots to prevent unraveling. Continue knotting crystals until you have 5 inches left on the string. 8 Create a loop secured by a knot with the remaining 5 inches of string. Trim any excess string with scissors. Attach the completed crystal string to an eye hook or shower-curtain holder. Repeat for all the strings in the curtain. Place a light source near the Crystal Curtains so that the crystals will twinkle at any time of day.
